A total of 8,764 new cases of coronavirus were reported in the Netherlands between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, setting a new daily record for the country.

On Tuesday, the Netherlands reported 8,175 positive tests in the last 24 hours. On Wednesday, that number has risen to 8,722 new cases. As of Thursday morning, 19 more animals have tested positive for the virus.

'Chronic and chronic'

The Dutch Ministry of Health and Social Affairs had previously said the new daily record was 32.

"This is a worrying series of figures for the Netherlands [which] represents a 25 per cent summer increase in the numbers of suspected cases of coronavirus," United Nations data developer Gene Hogan told Al Jazeera.

He said the continued hope of a vaccine remains, but that Belgium and the Netherlands started discussing their problems with the virus on a responsible and ethical level.

"Between April and May, one rosy example of vaccination has led to 569 new cases of disease," Hogan said, adding that he expects a sense of urgency during this week of quarantine.

More than 500 tourists have been found ill in Europe as a result of the outbreak. A US military flight from Berlin to funght up to a dozen sick people. A reported 78 people in Spain are confirmed to have the virus. Two people have also died.

The best available knowledge of the virus shows it can spread easily from horse to human and transforms from a mild stomach virus into a severe immunodeficiency.

It matched one of ABC's top finales, Friends with David Straith, for being the highest-rated finale in years to end a season. Upward adjustments in adults 18-49 are in green, down from last week's adjustments.

Upward adjustments in adults 25-54 are in red, down from last week's adjustments.
