Gearbox recently announced that Borderlands 3 will be getting a free next-generation upgrade as well as a second season pass including several new pieces of content, but arguably the most exciting addition that is being made will be a new skill tree for each vault hunter.

From the description, "Give a squad a surge of weapon power by instantly upgrading your relic weapon skill tree."

Overall, both new skill trees and added loot can really add to the sense of progression you feel in Borderlands 3 (without bad math,...that is).
