Borderlands 3 Announces New Skill Trees For Vault Hunters

Gearbox recently announced that Borderlands 3 will be getting a free next-generation upgrade as well as a second season pass including several new pieces of content, but arguably the most exciting addition that is being made will be a new skill tree for each vault hunter.

Amara’s new skill tree is called Enlightened Force. Amara states, "Do you have what it takes to ensure nothing remains that can threaten your base?" Her skill tree branches off into different combinations, like fire and electrical type ways to beat people. Each stalk her after the same vendetta="prediction" keyword.

Further up the skill tree is Sandbox Landmarks from Krogan Weapon Specialist: "Instantly level up your skills, all while fanning your targe in style. With an immediate effect, well executed is the name of the game." Sandbox Landmarks has an interesting effect called the Forge of Harmony. From the description, "Give a squad a surge of weapon power by instantly upgrading your relic weapon skill tree."

Overall, both new skill trees and added loot can really add to the sense of progression you feel in Borderlands 3 (without bad math,...that is). When you log out, you have the option to join them in a new skill tree if you just finished one. However is probably one of the perks of the main game. If you join the vault hunters they must finish their personal skill trees upon entry to Borderlands 3. This gives the players the chance to pick up whatever skills they have not used and become effective. If you are playing Emily and lose her to the enemies kill it is unavailable to take again, but if you have the earned it right there, you have the option to keep it as an easier spawn back to the vault. Modifiers like "Achieve More with New Skills." and "Upgrade Character and Drops for Free!" are guaranteed earned daily depending on your skill level.

Another notable next-gen update for Borderlands 3 is that each additional character will have their own loot distribution that includes weapons from mechanics specialties. That also includes Axton's hand cannon that appears to have a very large number of the small silos.

Since Amara and Sandbox Landmarks appear to be unique to each vault hunter, and having the jump between vault hunter at their leisure is a big part of the game now, will gear like the small scrapper drop to some other vault hunter besides Amara? Certainly with the new skill trees for Vault Hunter each vault hunter is getting their personal skill tree, they probably won't start…just.
