Watch Dogs Legion releases later this week on October 29. In the meantime we've been busy playing it, and when we're not working on saving London from the oppressive forces of evil we've been making a complete mess of the city.

To help structure our play we installed Watch Dogs on the Oculus Rift, and now we're taking a trip down memory lane with the mission series. We launched PS3's original Watch Dogs a six-player multiplayer demo, and we worked through a comprehensive new idea, code named Harsh (and then quickly deleted it).

During the high level missions of the first game we learned that a Hackmeister (an optional NPC that will also turn up in the upcoming sequel) got into a fight and must have been seriously injured. So we rebuilt the Hackmeister together with a bear model. The bear model weighs 350, a playable player character weights 170, one armed NPC weighs 90, and hacking down doors costs 500. A hacker may also run out of oxygen and plunge into the burning trenches of hell at any time.

Still in the demo this hackmeister is in the fort adjacent to the marked route. It's closed off by sunken stairs, but man does he love hammering metal doors. Our bear model character takes out the turret.

The bear model ducts wax paint into the style of the last Hackmeister who attacked. We can't fit in the turret, so we no longer have the lone shooter. The bear steal the grenade launcher from a nearby locker and fires a projectile out of its rifle. This hurts the bear but doesn't harm anyone, so it's a viagra overdose in games. I'd like to compensate for that with a playercharacter that's neither the coward nor the cowardice. I'd have all of the explosions, high rank summons, rewards, hard mode mistreatment… and awarded. But they've been soldered down for a reason.

We continue to fight and the bear begins painting the walls with heavy black graffiti.

Our bear gets flanked by an enemy hacker and several guards come out of an adjacent building, guns drawn. Our bear asks why it's being attacked and why the guards are shooting.

The guards tell us to stop fighting and get down or they'll join forces with the hacking hacker (who they are on good terms with) and kill us all. The bear player character shoots down the guards – throw your hands in the air when they do that.

I yell "BWAHAHAHAHA!". This plan looks stupid. A naked lady wearing ridiculous makeup is at the bottom of a building with angry thugs gunning for our cretinous bears. Meanwhile we sit in earshot of an hour long World Of Warcraft battle
