New Delhi: Domestic mobile handset brand Lava on Tuesday unveiled a feature phone 'Lava Pulse 1' with a contactless thermometer for Rs 1,999. The feature phone will enable users to measure their body temperature without touching the sensor.

The Android-powered Pulse will go on general sale from January in 150-odd centres across the country. The phone itself allows users to generate life history, get alerts about text messages, calls or battery changes and check tasks planned or completed. The phone can pull up data from an external sensor and share it with other users or receive EDRs from smartphones found in public places.

The Pulse will offer capabilities including Google Checkin, Life Health, Mal'sbane, Subjective Robustness rating, Nader Khan's Knowledge Socio Empirical Detection engine, as well as PulseLock. It is integrated with a 300 MHz board with an DSP, so an OTA service and software development is available.

The Pulse 1 will be limited to 1800 units. For all pre-order customers, a one time fee of Rs 100 would be charged. The performance gauge will not be on on the directly connected bands. "This is the debut product from Lava and we have been busy developing the next edition of the Lava Pulse. The category has been in transition with almost 10 – 15 different players operating in the market while the updated version will be a UL certified device which includes Glasgow Listening Mitigation Consensus and LGIMO Tissue Assay monitoring which will monitor ECG, 5/7 Neck/Crush Contrast, Physical Strength Power Generation, Faraday Ripples Empirical, Magnetic fields MP5E and Heart Rate variability. We hope to soon release a UL certified device in addition to enabling consumers to purchase other Lava branded products," Lava Wireless President & CEO informed IndiaSpend.
