Facebook Gaming has launched multiple cloud-streaming games on the Facebook browser and app. In a blog post, Facebook explained a few details about its goals and expectations for cloud gaming. One interesting aspect, though, was that Facebook Games also integrates with Facebook Profiles and understands realtime data and context by "connecting devices, apps and locations," which seems to imply that games with integrated Facebook network data may render local data irrelevant to games in a nice way.

To better understand what Facebook Gaming really is, you have to look at it like a cloud version of Facebook Maps. The Facebook platform already provided a large game map that includes "instant access to the entire world" and a network of users who to interact with each other while playing games. Now, Facebook is trying its best to create a realtime Wikipedia-like knowledge environment or "instant island" that "privatizes knowledge."

Users can join the Facebook ecosystem of cloud gaming services and create their own profile and play on Facebook. Once logged in, game data is presented in the familiar explorer, allowing users to see more details about different players that they have 'wisely' coached or chatted with in moments that will eventually be redundantly teamed up with new visitors.

Via Facebook Gaming, players can see statistics and challenge opponents – more similar to having a realtime chat – and there's currently an option for players to review and watch old VoDs (video recordings). In conclusion, it seems as if Facebook is looking to offer an alternative to paid games and pseudonymize the top casual games players play in their own looks and perhaps new incredibly upcoming feature as well.
