Google recently announced some improvements that it's bringing to the Wear OS version of Google Fit, and now the company has gone into more detail on those workout-related upgrades.

Workout tracking with Google Fit on Wear OS is getting a redesign that'll help you see important info more quickly. Whereas you might see stats which track distance for a run before the actual run is over, Google is putting together a list of things that need to be done right before you even run.

App resizing will also help, since a lot of Wear-powered applications are more than 2 x 2 and look much bigger than your device's 1080p screen. One feature coming in the update that'll solve this problem is the ability to resize your favourite voicemail app or email app once, and stuff it into the smaller space at the bottom of your screen. As long as you're not watching the same app over and over again the way that you do them with an actual phone, there shouldn't be too much of a big deal. Go to Settings > Personalization, and you'll now have the option to resize all the apps in your account.

Additionally, Health data will load up quicker when you perform a workout (instead of waiting for fitness data to prove it was uploaded right before you started a run) and it'll be able to send data to your shared Google Fit account instead of having to keep waiting.

The least exciting news you can expect with this update is that some fitness apps might for some reason be blocked by it. This necessarily means that you would have to wait around to start the update if you happened to have a fitness app that is blocked by this fix. Also, always remember that when you go into the Set Account Settings even if things are working just well, Google is probably looking to hide apps that Tasker hacks could potentially jailbreak.

These features aren't particularly new, but with a way to Graph your activity right there right on the wristband – like on the company's previous watch, the Moto 360 – it's going to be much more useful in the future. Google Fit on Wear OS will be launching on the Moto 360 on February 16th in the US and February 17th in the UK.
