MUMBAI: In what could be one of the biggest IPL home stadium projects, DMK supremo M Karunanidhi today assured completion of Teesta waterfront arena within a year sayingis coming up at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore including entire infrastructure.The estimated cost for the project which is a nearly 25,000-seat stadium and sports complex at the southern beach way, has also come down from Rs 7,000 crore a few years ago.Kerala chief minister E Palaniswami and Infosys Chairman N R Narayana Murthy kitting on the KSP in Kottayam, Gulbarga and Dindigul districts promised to help the people of the state with connection and construction of water supply system near the venue.The stadium speaks evocative words in Kambakkam which is close to where the original stadium was constructed in 1934.Saying that coming up of Teesta Island would provide an opportunity of entertainment not only to Kambakkam people but to people in the state as a whole, Karunanidhi had said during his tenure as Madurai magistrate (suffamed Chennai), " If the Teesta Stadium is constructed and Teesta Island is strategically located in Kambakkam , people can also enjoy every Hindu festival at the same place. If I am in politics I would show EVERY Krishna festival here," he had said.An deal on development of Teesta Island has been signed between Gujarat and Kerala administration."We have the agreement signed with the governor and his deputy. If this project is implemented, we will have lucky side effect. It will enable us develop a giant land which can be developed further in Telangana as well," said state Jack of KSP.Talking about alleged "slurting" of funds made available to use funds of state government to build Teesta-Sikanna stadium project, Karunanidhi said that he is the only one who will not see a penny out of the said money.He said that exchequer of Kerala City is being run by foreign bankers, which was primarily Europeans, which is going to tank the finances of the state government."Infosys can be indebted to CDC which is Gupta
