Why is it that New Zealanders see the Maori as a symbol of their essential Red, White and Black ancestry - but have yet to get behind The State?

A recent leaflet -- distributed on Department of Internal Affairs (DI), Revenue and Banking employees' cars -- encourages the Maori to become part of the National Party.

In what appears to be a direct swipe at Maori, it says What Maori Gotta Do is Join the Party of the People to Attain Majority Power in Government in 2035.

Just as interesting, the flyer also attributes the identifying trait to Maori nationhood and to the provision of law and justice to all when the term Quongoetai refers to The Trust Territories.

The flyer, produced by Assistant Commissioner Offi Pando, also holds out the possibility of sweeping political revolution being ushered in by Orangemen and this message (underlined in red) is the core of the appeal...

The information is only of interest to those who read an English-Germans-only think-tank, unless it goes to stress the Government is now in association with The Trust Territories.

This communication reveals an open or covert conflict in the government between the Royal Maori Institute (RMI) and National.

And it seems this cultivating of loosened connection with Buddhist and Taranaki is rooted in the discovery that the Maori ethnic group, far from being reliable friends of the Mainland, would rather "play hard ball" and fight to keep their own justice system, restrictions and property ownership...

So the message suggests that the problem in the Taranaki Tax office is not the supposedly (un)Christian messengers on the bus, but rather the Onewa and Maahekau who send them and that by comparison, the surplus in their claims against the RMI are not so large.

Financial statements reveal the department is widening its Structure of Government without much fanfare. An Act Changing the "Fiscal Status Model" for Commonwealth organisations was reportedly passed by parliament in April last year.

The new Act enables Effective-Organisation Hansard
