Wait, Steam said it can't recognize any OS at all…?

Recently we have seen numerous reports of this problem on the Steam forums. After a bit of searching, we have found that your system doesn't actually need to be Windows 7 or XP to get this error.

In fact, no OS at all is required.

This error occurs on 39+ 64-bit Steam computers when you attempt to play Minecraft in windowed mode. This primarily happens on 64bit operating systems.

Here is the problem and some helpful troubleshooting steps to try:

Modded versions tend to get a warning. Simply uncheck it from the launcher

If that doesn't work in the Launcher, try launching the game from the Game List page
