Hybrid computing is when one processing device uses two (or more) different architectures optimized for different purposes. For instance, one part of the Computer Operating System (OS) performs calculations continuously based on a user instruction, while one part of the Internal Processor (IP) retrieves instructions from memory wirelessly and the third part of the IP process and serializes the user instructions back to the OS.
Using multiple types of processors not only improves computational performance but can also lead to uptime and expressed both workload physical and logical, and therefore engineers may begin to deploy multiple types of real-time processors.
Digital Foundry: When did AMD sue Meizu? I assume they filed their initial patent back in 2015 for running Linux and the Windows partition on the same machine according to the patent. Was there a point in time where AMD decided to focus more on their MIPS-based Fusion effort, rather than Threadripper? Do you think this will have any impact on the launch date for the effort?
James: Prior to Meizu's cancellation we fully expected that Kaveri and the Fusion effort would launch at the end of 2016.
