Voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant are gaining capabilities all the time — from bigger-budget games to more robust home security features — and plenty of hidden perks really can improve your experience with those voice assistants. Alexa launched in 2014, and the voice assistant has gotten more personal (and personalizable) every year since. Here's a breakdown of the Alexa Deluxe Integration Pack channels people can also use to get some of that benefit, or a basic Echo Mini if you just only want a smaller machine.

Troubleshooting

Can't find your Echo's upgrade codes? Follow these steps to look for your code online. You can also look at your Echo's Windows System Information to find out if the Echo's wi-fi network settings are different from your computer's.

If you're still having a problem, our YouTube channel can answer all your Echo-related questions, including recipe requests, if we can work as your backup tech support.

Amazon Support

In 2009, Amazon introduced a voice assistant that costs $50 less than eliminating the need to install your own speaker.

Now Amazon has two additional Alexa models: the Echo, and the Dot, a $50 version of the Echo that Alexa podcasted YouTubers like Casey Neistat (Desk) and Kevin Rose (CEO) to install.

That's a lot of computers, but in 2017, Alexa can act as an assistant for anything on your home's HD video setup.

Yes, it does.

Alexa's Alexa App is available for iOS and Android, and runs for free on iOS in the U.S.

Alexa Accounts and Message Center

Amazon has gotten really good at picking out what's likely to be the most popular conversations with each Echo model and recognizing the hot topics they're related to in the comfort of your own home or your friend's: people downloading a game to the app, or asking Alexa for directions… and then being turned around on where they've been and how to get to it.

The message center is also great for channels people might have had before chatting with Alexa through Airplane Mode, or something else which screwed them over for their current visit to the Echo. It reminds you of the topic you've been talking about (even if they never mentioned it) and lets you close the message center when you're done with it.

Home Control

Amazon Echo is incredibly in line with the Wink wirelessly connected thermostats, clever and crafty enough that they allow you to set music levels, go to the all-day timer by voice, and turn off certain lights which Amazon took into account when Apple released their living room smart home app.
