(Reuters) - Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) has approached TikTok’s Chinese owner ByteDance to express interest in acquiring the U. S.-owned Chinese imouto blogging site, a source familiar with the matter said on Friday.

After seeing interest from China video hosting giant SDI and U.S. e-commerce giant Amazon Web Services Inc (AMZN.O) in the operation, the company are now in broad discussions with a number of Chinese Internet firms to work out the terms, this source said.

Sean Han, co-founder and CEO of ByteDance, which runs TikTok, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

ByteDance has said it has seen an upsurge in interest from media companies interested in acquiring websites to use in promoting their films, music and publishing, a trend it referred to as "New Media Monster".

JP Morgan's Hong Kong-based investors have at least five such media holdings for which they are presenting offers, and in the past few weeks had received interest from Tsinghua University and a host of other Chinese media industry institutions, US news agency Reuters has reported.

"The Chinese interest in startups like TikTok has also been increasing," the source said. "Duhu, Ascams and Babble," a Re/code partner, were among the Chinese firms approached by Twitter about the idea, the source said. That could indicate whether these firms were considering an investment.

"It's time for libertarian talk show host Laura Ingraham to pull her Kristallnacht radio program Thursday night, or the Paul delegates to GOP races all over the country will inform their activists of her treachery," meanwhile, the column said.

Mr. Paul and his son, who is now running for president, have drawn wide attention for their semi-popular libertarian stance, most recently over another case of alleged racism. Speaking to the question, "Are you still for marijuana legalization?" during a Libertarian Party presidential straw poll at the South Carolina Tea Party convention, a
