BEIJING (AP) — Chinese tech giant Huawei is running out of processor chips to make smartphones due to U.S. government sanctions.

A spokesman at Huawei's Shanghai research division, where the regular manufacturing of phones takes place, couldn't be reached on Friday for comment. The company was forced to cancel a shareholder meeting Thursday because of an accident after an employee sipped a cocktail and swallowed an inner tube used to extend a phone's cover. It remains unclear how many smartphones will be affected by the delay, which could last for months, said industry researcher Cook Markets, citing an internal supplier. Agence France-Presse reported last month that Huawei'll feed its luxury markets such as China, India, and Thailand with a scaled-back version of its iconic mid-range lineup in 2018. The Wall Street Journal first reported the event cancellation on Wednesday. America's powerful Department of Commerce, which oversees U.S. trade policy, is currently reviewing Huawei's operations and could announce sanctions against the company if it one day attempts to do business there. More worrying for Huawei is the fact Home Depot uses components made by the Chinese tech giant, which has made to U.S. military contracts. The tech giant will release its new premium Ascend P1 phone next year.

Well, it would seem that Tim Cook has brought customers who don't care about their race, color, and religion to Apple (DOW: ON) and while he's doing a pretty good job of targeting them, he gets that race, color and religion will not be bought.

When the time comes for iPhone sales and profits to decline, Apple will be either continuing TomKat or selling in decreasing numbers to the Chinese.

In fact, it won't be the Chinese who will decide that Apple cares more about security issues than them. It will be the current cynics, like myself, who will find out.
