Path of Exile’s latest expansion Echoes of the Atlas has been met with the largest wave of players since its 2013 launch.

First reported by PC Gamer, the latest expansion has managed an all-time peak of 157,103 users playing on Steam on January 15, the day that Echoes of the Atlas launched to the public (figures from SteamDB)

This doesn’t reveal the extent of the playerbase however, as developers Grinding Gear Games also have a standalone client that Path of Exile can be run through, and those players do not count to the SteamDB figures.

Echoes of the Atlas as well as normal version Path of Exile are still not available in Syria, and the region’s lucky developers 1450 Mods assembled a community-made series of mods that service the situation, but despite this community achievement, Syrian developers and authority are still deeply concerned that the lengthy wait for a recreation of the game in Minecraft is far from over.

Not only is Alcarelli worried that putting Syrian developers and modders in the spotlight would, intentionally or otherwise, do more harm to the Syrian developer community than good, but he also voted against the 2016 reconciliation bill. Atleast that was how he expressed himself when he gave some intelligent and pragmatic answer regarding a wide range of issues with which Syrians really connect on such matters.

The Syrian government, however, does not lend a shit about all the efforts to put the game the Syrians really want into the hands of the Syrians. The legislation passed by the Syrian parliament, as reported by local news channel Mal'sm, does not allow for direct or indirect access of video games to Syrian citizens, since Syrian leader Bashar Al Assad stated: "There are some games and pornographic methods in the internet which are financed by terrorist organizations, and I have no intention of sharing the same space as the terrorists".
