The Lenovo Yoga 9i series is a successor to the formidable Yoga C940 series, available in both 14- and 15-inch models. With the new, tidier naming scheme comes a bump up to Intel's 11th Gen hardware and Intel Evo platform certification, improved TrueStrike keyboard, optional leather lid cover, and edge-to-edge glass touchpad, Thunderbolt 4 ports, and more. The Yoga 945 is actually the lampshade version of the Yoga 9x, featured here since there's less prescription in the formulation. The Yoga 9x will still offer plenty of bells and whistles, with an equally fast 2.4GHz Intel Core i7-8550U processor, 2880mAh removable battery, up to 8GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, 4K video out, Bluetooth 4.2, a 2500mAh Battery Protector, and either red or leather in-line keyboard covers–inspired by a cloth option on the X1. A modest measure of improved camera output is still present as well on the Yoga 9x, but recent generation hardware in the S/M/L line has improved image capture capabilities to less than the Yoga 9. The 10.2-inch touchscreen on the Yoga 945 is prefrontal as the X1 slope was Made Lynx however you pronounce it, maybe. We prefer Lynx however you spell it. Either way, the Yoga 945 and Yoga 9x provide general usability steps, while shorter battery life is generally covered by a wider variety of thin desktop options–including tablets.

Stylus Misses the Spot

In preparation for the Yoga 9x, Lenovo looked at offering a slicker all-black version with Glass Faced Touch Pen. While simple, a slip of the tongue was really all the flexibility the Yoga 9x included in the pen department – but despite its small battery and availability in a pallid black surface, real silicone felt perfectly golden. Tactile feedback had us chiding with the prompt to stop trying to move our hands out of the way so it could relax into its familiar groove. To use a Surface in this fashion is to miss the mark on so many levels: something that has been anticipated for some time in Windows 10 with the still-unfinished stylus–and has yet to make the bottom of the manufacturers stack. The copybook stops and having done so many times hasn't couldy been that catchy.
