ASUS recently posted its first teaser for the upcoming ROG Phone 3 successor on Weibo, hinting at a refreshed design with almost no bezels. An alleged live image showing the upcoming gaming phone has now been posted by Chinese leakster WhyLab, revealing a largely familiar design (via GSMArena).

Since we already have a desktop GT86 with an Intel Atom processor, which scores 9'224 in 3DMark Ice Storm Extreme, it's the appropriate application on which to test the image and key refresh Smartphone features. All specifications are precisely the same as on ASUS' reference model.

Curiously, it appears that the new flagship smartphone will be shipping with Android 5.1.1 Jelly Bean instead of the Android 4.3.1 KitKat pie. Additionally, the lack of hardware accelerators will of course put an end to the gaming look HTC has been experimenting with, but there's no doubt the UX has received a highly focused makeover too, with Samsung handling input from hardware makers directly.

Nevertheless, the new device will be powered by a 6-core Cortex-A53 processing unit clocked at 1.4GHz. Adoption of the SoCs make sense given the device's ample forward 5MP camera, which should prove quick and painless compared to most flagship smartphones on the market today.

Once again it looks like TCL, one of Huawei's partners, will also be gaining more exposure with this device. In addition to the previous RoG 2:

– ECB Mia, Shares of TCL helpful British Electric with high-speed network infrastructure infrastructure technology

– Iceland-based Timeless BT, Internet streaming service

The ROG Phone lineup will remain heavily concentrated on docked extensions, though losing multi-directional speakers is regarding a welcome change for a product its title is named after. ASUS hasn't announced when the phone will go on sale at this point, but will likely begin taking pre-orders in the coming days.
