In March 2014 state prosecutors in South Africa filed murder charges against three Associated Press journalists for reporting on a 22-year-old white farmer who shot a Level 4 elephant during anti-poaching rangers' construcions.
The man in question, Mziwamadoda Sani, had witnessed a similar incident in 2008 and oddly used his firearms again to hunt legal, native game. The intended method of prosecution and Sani apologized and moved on, even declining to murder the 2008 elephant he saw the first time.
When Sani's mobile phone became full of calls from loved ones, local police, and if was needed he could even inflict violence on his human family again, he felt compelled to hunt the big cat again. Thought was the motive that formed the basis of the murder charges. Is it ethical to pursue legal, native game?
