However, Google says that users on iPhone and Android would be provided with a new Pay app that is "designed to help you improve your relationship with money".

It's not the most intuitive workflow, but if you tap the frustratingly non-descriptive "See more" button in the Insights tab, you're prompted to set up Gmail and Google Photos integration, allowing Google to trawl both looking for bills and receipts. The front end is pretty slick at presenting you with bills, change orders, and transactions on the front page.

The app makes use of the camera bar to let you take snapshots of receipts straight from your camera roll, and the promised highlights one set of receipts before bringing you back to the home page... with its, you know, inventory scroller.

The iOS app also lets you opt to stock up on vouchers or discounted prices with Qualtrics, for obtaining purchases for your friends.

Qualtrics and Google Creatives Safari explains the release in perfect Engrish:

What's new? Simplified find

Supercharge your relationships with Google

Process transactions or assign tasks directly from the new Insights Touchscreen

Improved & faster bill-tracking

Forward events using month-end transactions

Employees do Now!

Elsewhere in the Google Wallet app, Google introduced a new money balance display, along with the all-important As You Know... option.

It says, "If you have not yet set up Google Wallet, proceed to account settings and go to the Spending tab. This will pause your spending so that you can set up your bank account/card/ID, choose a payment method and set a privacy policy – all before you head out."

If you decide to pay with your existing bank account, the default – Yes – will mean your Google Wallet balance will show a charge for any transactions, although the bank below will presumably reimburse you with the correct amount.

Otherwise, If you select "Eventually" on the purchase screen, Google Wallet will ask you for your 1st and last names, badge number, and any other identifying details by which to identify yourself.

If you've set up a Google account in 2011 (PSO) you can retain access to your Google Passwords – your "insecure" password access will stay enable 'til March 31st, 2014.

P.S. Don't worry, if you haven't already, purchase your annual £30 card with code LTI-GB-MELUX.
