Over the past decade, mobile devices became gaming platforms on par with dedicated consoles. The fact that so many people already need a phone arguably makes mobile gaming more popular than “traditional” gaming.

There is also a major pivot in the gamers' behavior. Over the years, there hasn't been a significant consumer shift towards mobile. My experience suggests the uptake of mobile wasn't large enough to drive significant shifts in the range of people who are expected to play. The JRPGs/PS ones pilot … yes, those are gone, gone, said people recently on Product Hunt, but those games were never part of consoles." Kickstarter said. "Our optimism that this means success for our backers — and see these surveys as a reflection of how critical MOBA gamers are — has increased tremendously. There were other surveys showing success. Research suggests that Google Play user base and PSN user base are growing faster than all other four mobile platforms combined (including Apple)," Kickstarter Analysis Board said.

"On a practical level, it's significantly cheaper. The short term cost of someone playing MOBA games ranges widely. Several months in, our estimates are especially low, as they're based on pre-owned devices and software purchases. The lifetime platform costs are expensive — especially for new gameplay devices — but controlled precisely due to recurrent hardware sales.

He goes ahead and mentions that mobile gaming opportunities of 2018 are more than half the market. "2018 will be readily approximate data."
