In one of the weirdest gaming stories to be released in 2020, former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that Kanye West had previously contacted the company to work together on a project.

Fils-Aime shared the story of his meeting with West during his conversation Games With the Reggie & Herold podcast, as noted by a recent article on Nintendo all. Despite the woman candidate having even higher hopes than Fils-Aime, he says he had to decline.

"I remember meeting Kanye. Before this podcast, I heard him say he's a big fan of games. He said, 'I'd love to do a game with you.' I said, 'Well, I wasn't planning to retire yet. That won't be possible.' He was not happy with that answer. I could tell he was a little upset, but he was still polite and went on with the conversation," he said. "He told me he'd do [a game] as a cooperative one. As in, theoretically, you can work together on something and accomplish things. His work is so controversial it would be hard for him to do that. He's controversial. And I was gonna say yes. I was gonna say that I'd give him a shot. Unfortunately, his work and his attention turn people against him, and rightly so."

Fils-Aime's comments come on the heels of his criticism of what listeners are reading on social media about him communicating with Leaf and developers Barret Baker and Rhawn Moore about doing a game together for the Wii U in addition to requesting celebrity appearances.

"All of a sudden he starts saying he wants more people to be involved. When I heard that, I didn't believe it," said Reggie, before smashing ostentatious Blood Orange t-shirts with his three-by-four.

"I had a meeting with him in Tokyo, and we were talking about games. I met with him for about five minutes, and I said, 'Well, now it's a matter of how do you do this.' He said, 'Well, I'm plotting it out, but I don't want people to know about it. I'm really trying to protect people from it. It's really important.' He said to me, I don't want too many people to know about it until we're in production. And that was the last I heard of it. He's keeping that secret," Reggie
