Apple announced Dan Riccio will transition to a new role focusing on a new project and reporting to CEO Tim Cook, building on more than two decades of innovation, service, and leadership at Apple. John Ternus will now lead Apple’s Hardware Engineering organization as a member of the executive team. Riccio has been one of Apple’s most highly regarded designers, an innovator who has helped develop iconic devices such as the original iPod as well as many well-loved design classics.He knows a great many Apple fans more intimately and actually owns three of them personally. He knows how to keep them happy. On January 10, 2016, Tim Cook emphasized to Apple fans that his newest iPhone (the iPhone 8 Plus), "The biggest improvement that we can achieve in design is not just 'better', but more delightful" "Having someone who really understands the offerings that they are going to have with us, he will help us go through that process of framework creation and then actually building an iOS device to offer something more delightful, engrossing and fun for people."
