Microsoft on Tuesday announced a new 2021 Surface Laptop, called the Surface Laptop 4. The new version adds 11th-gen Intel Core processors, paired with Intel Iris XE graphics. The new laptop, according to Microsoft, supports 4K (ultra high-definition) and 3D video editing and can upload photos and video without having to wait for the uploading process. Microsoft has also added 4K movies to one service, to give consumers the option to watch films privately on their Laptop PC. Microsoft also said the new model has better battery life by up to 8 hours.

Microsoft's new Laptop also has a second "invisible hinge" that lets users fold the laptop back down like a suitcase.

"It's the first device in Microsoft history that blends versatility and portability," professional photographer Nathan Gilbert told The Verge. "Precious few laptops actually get that. After a while, the device becomes a small iPad. Having the ability to easily store bulky gear is ideal for photography and the act of traveling. Having the ability to gently go back and forth from laptop to backpack is super useful. I definitely want to give this a shot myself one day, and I wish Surface owners could customize too!"

The robot that delivers pizza to your door

Microsoft is also bringing its 'RoboDelivery' robot to customers. The robot, announced in March, is designed to go to your door automatically as soon as someone orders a pizza, pick that pizza up, and deliver it. The company is collaborating with delivery apps like Wingz, Postmates, and Caviar to integrate the robot with an app interface. The train by Japanese robot factory is designed to take tourists from a designated building past a statue of a pizza mascot, where the robot delivers it to whoever is placing their order, hands them the bag, and flips them the bird. The idea is for customers to be able to ask the robot questions like, "Are you hungry?" — then they'll get a text alert notification if there's no food at the table.

Charlotte Rose, vice-president of human resources at Granville Island-based Smith Rice Robotics and VP of side projects at Microsoft, told IEEE Spectrum that the robot will first show itself to customers at Microsoft-sponsored events around the U.S. so you get a feel for how it works. She said the company is employing a mix of artificial intelligence and talent to make sure it does its job well; so far this robot has been busy running on its own, as Rose indicated.
