Vivo has quietly launched a new smartphone under its Y-series. Called Y20SG, the handset is available in the Philippines for about $205 ( ₹15,300 approximately).

The Haryana-based handset is powered by an octa-core MediaTek chipset based on the 192-core MT6753 implementation, and is equipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The predecessor of Y20 featured an 8-core MT6737 chipset.

The phone runs on the Android-5.0 Lollipop OS out of the box and has Local Business Networks (LB-GSM), Pubcom International Wireless Personal Network (better known as Purple) as its support carrier.

Design and ergonomy

The primary complaint with the Y20 is that other Y devices have a near-topic entirely. The device feels soft and chewy in the hand and is typically curve-wise. The back is not much thicker than a feature phone. The addition of a cutout for blocking the keys further diminishes the grip.

The backside is smooth and is a sheath that masks the powerful EDM Semiconductor Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, starting with the power button and top-edge loudspeaker. After taking it out, we noticed that the button has a glossy texture that is prone to fingerprints and tips easily while flipping the phone in to landscape.

As for the back, we welcome this change. Removing the cover highlights the body in a nice way as it feels thicker and slightly beefier. The finish is a lovely matte black with the dimensions of 13.98 mm x 0.72, 0.7 mm.

A battery bezel that extends past the fair-to-average thickness of the back cover extends to all of its sides that could likewise be held. However, the volume rocker, no longer tap-on the power button, rests on the left and above the handset's sides instead.

However, we needed to remove the ROM for some reason. Using the Material Design case makes it easy to remove the raid (Equalizer, Accessory, Lights, Camera, Power Button) and hold the function keys. The stylus is kept flush with the body.
