New rumors have surfaced suggesting that video game giant Hideo Kojima may be looking at a deal with Microsoft and Xbox, parting ways from long-time collaborator Sony.

Reports originally came from a source who spoke to Venture Beat, revealing that Kojima is currently in talks with Microsoft to secure an exclusive.

This is not the first time that we've heard about a potential Kojima deal with Microsoft, as Kotaku claimed late last year that Kojima was interested in bringing Death Stranding into the Xbox One's backward-compatible catalog.

No deal has been assumed, but at the very least, we now know that these early reports have a grain of truth to them. The deal would not be standalone. It can come from Microsoft as well as Kojima himself.

Due to the mysterious nature in which Kojima Productions has operated since its dissolution back in 2015, no deals have been announced just yet. There's a possibility that Hideo Kojima could be working on another game in the Far Cry, Injustice, or Guacamelee titles. But no plans have been revealed for this game just yet.

Kojima also allegedly pushed aside the Metal Gear Solid series from linear development, and he's been using that time to work on a new game.

The discussions regarding Kojima's new game started around Wolfenstein 2, something that made headlines a while back due to the reported leak of details and then cancellation of the game.

With the Backwards Compatible rumor, we ended reporting on the project for long enough to wonder if Kojima may be a key player to learn about new Spyzore games that would come to Xbox One.

Are you excited for Kojima's next game? It seems like his time for making new games may be drawing an end.
