WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday praised U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's nominations to plum jobs in his administration but warned against "a tweet in the heat of a briefing" while rejecting current tensions between Canada and the United States.

At meetings of the World Economic Forum in the Swedish city of Davos, Trudeau described Trump as a "unique leader" who would be able to help cement the trade relationship with Canada that has grown increasingly important amid trade disputes with the United States.

"He's looking talent for key positions at home and abroad," Trudeau said. "Obviously that's a great source of strength for Canada."
