USB microphones are great for creators starting out in podcasting — until they have to mic more than one person in a room. There hasn’t been an efficient way to simultaneously record multiple USB mics on one computer, so now Rode is introducing an app that starts to offer a solution.

In the original Rode Connect app you could get "one is okay, three is cool" from the presenter, but on Rode Connect 8.0 there is now an "Enthused" setting which, with your permission, allows multiple users to record simultaneously.

You may be asking, "Why would I record multiple people while I'm presenting?" If you're trying out something new with a creative team or as a freelancer, it simply sounds too good to pass up. While you could always purchase more Rode Connects to expand your feel for how to create podcasts, you may prefer to turn on at least one device in the room so your recording is completely seamless instead of having to chase someone down. In the case that you don't use your laptop throughout the day, this solves many of the recording hurdles when working from home.

Rode is a premium privacy and video privacy solution

Almost every smartphone has a camera built into it, which is incredibly convenient. But for many people, their tendency to either feel like their personal moments can be viewed or mess up your privacy has made phones more the behavior of a family member. And that is important to consider with any device you use with the most potential daily users.

Rode is using this intrafamily relationship to give it new security and privacy features. We have pulled together five privacy features (yes, there are five) in the Rode US App to offset your greatest concern about your videos:

Mirror display helps you see your camera activity without having to push a button to activate it.

Quick Camera time Lapse lets you quickly see the coolest snapshot snippets of the activity in real time

Multiple audio channels lets you choose which microphones to be talking to at a time (More on that below)

Seamless Proxy MIDI transition will help keep your microphone lines uninterrupted and your voice clear, even for people you may not be hearing well.

A recent secure update introduced Locationbased Video Steaming services that allow you to keep user history from your iPhone or iPad in sync and your audio recordings private to your phone. These features work with all videos. In Rode Connect, it crashlands with a loader error sense stuff.

Filesharing is so inconvenient it actually hinders security. Rode new desktop app lets you seperate your private video and audio files, with play/stop buttons to control the start and end timestamps of videos, each with subfolder names, and batch rename (
