The Roman Space Telescope will help NASA detect solitary black holes

NASA is talking about a new space telescope that will launch in the mid-2020s. The new telescope is the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, or simply the Roman Space Telescope.

The Roman is a space telescope that will be used to design and build Destroyers of Worlds, or DOW's (Collaborative Undertaking Model).

The Soviets and Americans recruited the Romans in the early 1980s because, according to John Woodrow Cox, director of the National Reconnaissance Office, DOW's are as important to both countries as antimatter is to physicists.

"[Soviet Union Chairman Marshal Zhukov] was keenly interested right from the beginning that we not get involved in what they were doing," Woodrow explained. When, in 1983, the space telescope system was cancelled, the two space powers sought a new space telescope (NASA's famous Project Ion) rather than the ruins of one. In the words of Cox: "We naturally closed our eyes and said, "If they don't do something amazing in space, there isn't anything else I can do."
