The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are all set to return courtesy of Superbad team Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and now, several character descriptions have emerged offering an insight into their plans for the legendary gang of crimefighting reptiles. Rogen and Goldberg's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is being made in conjunction with Nickelodeon and Point Grey Pictures and will be a CGI animated reboot of the popular franchise. The film will reunite the original cast of turtles Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo and their arch adversary and mentor Shredder. Titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, the film will be directed by Dave Green, Ben Kurtzman and Doug Liman. Green is also responsible for a couple of notable standout features: Insidious and Dr. Strangelove.

Hayao Miyazaki shared his desire to work on the film a few years back, when he commented "The turtles is by far a project I've been dying to work on for quite a while.

The hand-drawn animation fantasy will time travel to the past to 1970 and the main villains of the day are "raring to go" with Shredder's Foot Clan and Donatello and Leonardo's Ninja Brotherhood. This classic clash of lead baddies is described as: "a contemporary clash of muscular thoughtfulness and occult power". An interesting list of TMNT Montage Masters have also been unveiled.

The new logo mock-up cover will be created by the cartoonist Justin Roiland, who was hired on board early in Star Wars Episode VII's shooting. There's been speculation that Roiland will illustrate a new Ninja Turtle logo for upcoming film Shazam, and if true, this splash pages splash-page of Leonardo will undoubtedly become a popular fan shot meme. Roiland's work can currently be seen in comedy musical It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and lots of other roles in American animation.

Will TMNT soon be seen as an established smashing hit on video game consoles like Rockstar? We'll let you know when working on new movies starts.
