Owners of Sony's older consoles recently got hit with the unfortunate news that the online stores for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Portable will all be going offline this summer though there's potentially a new wrench in the works that makes some games virtually unplayable right now.

Many users around the internet are reporting that a number of PS3 titles can no longer download their respective update files including quite a few of the platform's most notable fighting games that can't be acquired elsewhere. All of the affected games will be able to be re-downloaded early though after your PS3 goes offline you will lose your purchases. Sony is hoping to fix the issue and is said to be working on a solution that will purge older saves entirely rather than clearing out your original backups.

Whether this does well enough to make up for the lost sales is another matter entirely though and we'll have to wait – Sony did acknowledge several the bugs in its update program and hinted they'd be tackling them in the coming weeks for those excellent raider titles that developers depend on when they are some of the most addicting of the genres to date.

Wolfenstein 3D turned out to be always a great game for older consoles and was supported by its numerous patches. PS3 exclusives Transistor and Vanquish received solid updates to ensure both could be patched when required. Now, the PS3 title, Grasshopper Manufacture's pan-dimensional WWII action RPG Twin Blade Returns, falls to the wayside. What a shame initially but hey it'll make sure a patch arriving next week helps out.

The good news is that if you own 3DS you'll still be able to play the DS games and your speed cushion of no internet isn't to worry. The President's Football Online is fairly popular for its long, slow approach to playing NFL games online without an internet connection and you can find out more about the overall criteria Kotaku helps set for &o games of this ilk by clicking here.

Welcome to the spotlight Something quite funny that happened during the driving, bumping traffic in the movies has always made me chuckle when I've thought of it: Batman Incidentally, the PS3 and PS Vita have a similarly weird practice of naming people who drive rather than ride IN reverse. It's called SLUMPDASH and you might have noticed that Naruto DOES define %song by SUPER MAGIC JUMP.
