Mobvoi is starting to sell the TicWatch GTH today, a $79.99 fitness wearable that features sensors for skin temperature and blood oxygen that are typically reserved for more expensive watches. And while cost is certainly the main draw for the wearable, Mobvoi, is betting that the device can be a game-changer for users. With this in mind, the company let us test it for a day as part of the launch. Here's how it measures up to existing fitness trackers.

Update: New TicWatch 2 with the latest hardware comes with official Android Wear 1.0 software underneath. Cost will go down to $130-$150. (Editor's Update: The price come down dramatically. It's now $50. Pooling lessons from teams of reviewers. Originally in $100 range.)

Cost

$79.99. No, there is no Kickstarter, no preannouncement, no virglmer, no rogers, nothing. No nickel crew data center, just Mobvoi coming out with it for the masses. In fact, the email from Mobvoi is addressed to you! This is a newer, higher volume version of this smartwatch from Mobvoi. It isn't discounted to half-on-half discount either. $79.99 costs 150 Euros. Ordinarily, the price would get you an Optical Heart Rate Monitor from Garmin, or the LG Z Ultra . And $100 would get you the BlackBerry Q10 ( ) running on Android Wear. This physical model of the TicWatch GTH goes for $99 when new. The Battery life is, shall we say, also a weirdly short thing. Mobvoi says the GTH will have the following functionality:

Up to eight hours of GPS for up to 150 miles of durability (Road ID yeah, and anyway, it'll be no good going over crap)

Function See time via a silver laser eye tracker

Other sensors for monitoring blood oxygen, heart rate, motion speed, and more

Compliments Wear 2.0 + Wear OS

Turn on and off via a gesture

Record and download a whole bunch of your data tracking

Easy to read dials with black only

Smooth Snapdragon 400 chipset
