Security firm Check Point has released its Mobile Security Report 2021 revealing some alarming details about cyber-attacks last year. The company says that four out of every 10 mobile phones are inherently vulnerable to cyber-attacks. According to the report the proportion where IoT (Internet of Things) is involved has spiked from 9% in 2015 to 35% in 2016.

Interestingly, the report claims that 70% of companies with which Check Point has partnered are using mobile incident response teams to protect critical infrastructure assets, while a mere 26% of businesses do not. Overall, 37% Indian companies do not provide 24x7 access to their customers.

The cyber-threat level of Indian businesses has gone up substantially. Overall, 44% of companies openly admitting that they are vulnerable to cyber-attacks. 63% of mobile and 49% of IT solutions are at risk from cyber-attacks.

According to the report 42% of Indian companies gave a high concern report regarding Facebook breach, the fourth-most common. Another 60% of companies reported being in direct contact with 'phishing' websites and 6% said they contacted hackers directly.

During Check Point's survey, 78% of mobile and 42% of IT solution providers are not providing Domain Policy Lists (DPLs). Besides, most companies do not attempt to mitigate hackers, instead they take their flaws and rely on their customers to provide 'digital hygiene.'" to get rid of cyber-threats.

Mobile malware continue to rise across India's top 200 digital companies, rising 40% in FY16 & 37% in FY17. According to the report over 2.8 million malware attacks were reported last fiscal Year.

Check Point also announced that 72% of India's Digital professionals are proficient in web security, of which 55% are using a solid home-grown alternative to manage the mobile cyber-threats and for forensic assessments.
