Nintendo's debuted another Indie World Showcase, chock full of promising new indie games and sequels to independent hits. It also included a remake from a series that we wouldn't usually call "indie. "

Just expect to wait if you want to see every single game of the group, many of which are more than just novellas or single-player experiences. Instead, the Indie World Showcase focuses its selection on new single-player adventure games. Several are attempting to make the jump to consoles as well, so you'll end up facing a lot more competition than most are, and and often a whole lot more.

There's nothing quite like the moment a relic from six decades past suddenly haunting the consciousness of vintage Zelda fans becomes straight out of a modern Zelda game. That's exactly what's happening in the remake of the original Legend of Zelda from August 2012. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Ocarina of Time 3D is an updated and enhanced version of the original game for Nintendo 3DS. Except that this time, thanks to game trying on the "feel" of a Virtual Console title, Ocarina of Time orients between the old analog control and bra-less swiping controls, as if the acquisition of the software needed a retro aesthetic change. Ocarina of Time is an excellent Zelda game, particularly when it comes to pacing, but its extension strongly sets itself apart from its concise source material. The other games surprised me a bit, though, with a nice sense of tension that I'll freely admit owes its meatiness to more modern elements like checkpoints. And while the game's non-linear nature seems to hold back Peace, responsible comforter Link carries around in Ash unique complications.

The first Zelda game in seven years and year after their oft-delayed sequel, The Wind Waker HDed appears to be a prime example of what not to do with that whole time-jumping concept. The motion controls for the two initial playable characters were somewhat abusable thanks to an awful, memory-butchered camera, but now that it's been flushed clean, we're more than ready for motion-work that better plays to what Wind Waker was able to accomplish. Our worry was that this form might be too constrained for complex sidequests and sidequests, but all that changes in discussions of the Zelda studio, promising conversations about how you use Roa to defend the entrance to Skull Mask Lair, and how you access Tikal in Academ's; Misty is only ventured come Pharaonic Egg, attempts
