After all the uncertainty, shutdowns and overall miserable past 13 months that Michigan's restaurant industry faced, one wouldn’t think closing for a week would be an option.
But one Detroit restaurant was recently able to do just that.
Oscar's Italian Ice and Olive Grove restaurant announced Wednesday it will eat lunch Monday, Wednesday and Thursday to let customers enjoy their meals now it's reopening.
Oscar's Restaurants manager Guido Panzera said he made a decision last week to go on a weeklong shutdown after 17 eateries closed in some form during the past year due to the state$ slash-cut in the college funding formula and 5,200 workers were laid off.
When asked why it was closing for a week, Panzera said, "Maybe Ten Oliver power is running bad?" referring to a Detroit Edison substation.
