BioWare

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition brings remastered versions of Commander Shepard's adventures to , and on Friday. It's the first time we've had the original trilogy and all its downloadable content in one collection, in 4K Ultra HD at 60 fps.

Developed by Creative Assembly, the company that created the 2010 games, the latest RPG also runs at 1080p HD, and comes with a 450GB hard drive for all your Mass Effect2 saves. Plus there's the standard edition, which gives you fully remastered music, art, and effects, as well as all the DLCs and add-on packs. The $60 price tag for the standard edition makes it a very reasonable haul.

Not as skilled at properly complaining about pricing as you are with everything else? Here is a series of tips, courtesy of the folks over at NeoGAF, to help you make your holiday buying decisions and get the most out of the $60 selection.

Buying Now: Are You Ready For Launch?

Preload Mass Effect: Legendary Edition

This will get you up to 11 hours of Mass Effect: Andromeda time, but you'll have to deal with you usual disappointments, such as the inability to rename characters. Mass Effect: Andromeda should be out soon, but it'll be available for PC at launch. Activision and Electronic Arts will give you a key at launch. Also,!) International press units shipping northeast of the border can get a copy early.

Note that you will need to be connected to the Internet to download content. All items have Steam DRM.

Mass Effect: New Game +

You can replay your "New Game +" for up to like 50 hours. The campaign is not recorded during this replay. Instead, you join the game at the beginning, like a game hoarder might stop at one game shelf and stack the boxes. If you choose to go back in time and save your progress, you can also do so to (supposedly) find "meaningful choices."

Update: There have been reports of players having to replay entire campaigns due to save browser issues.

Mass Effect: Echo (Multiplayer Game) and Respawn

Two Mass Effect games, but only one multiplayer game. The multiplayer Echo suggests teaming up for survivalist challenges and does not have much interactivity beyond spawning. In Kraken DLC, the game has players hungry for Sherkan Salmon and it will have them fighting each other. Respawn has downloadable guns.
