A Bilibili forum user (via La Frite David) has shared an alleged prototype of a high-end Z690 motherboard for Intel's forthcoming 12th Generation Alder Lake processors. The leak offers a first look of the new LGA1700 socket that's expected to house at least two generation (Alder Lake and Raptor Lake) of Intel processors. Interestingly, it features a 24-pin ATX power connector in one corner, next to an 8-pin ATX PSU connector and a 24-pin door that links to the 27-pin ATX power connector next to the PCIe slots.

It looks like the prototype will be available in May 2017, following the first quad-core high-end processors – the quad-core Kaby Lake Core i7-6950x and six-core Core i9-7900X. It will feature NVMe storage support, Fast Memory Technology, and Intel's Optane technology. The motherboard will aim for new-egg, thanks to its metal body, colorful strip rails, and neat factory overheads. Note that the unit in this leaked motherboard picture looks as though the driver which enables Z690 boards to work with the joint Zen-based Kabylake and Kaby Lake Kaby Lake processor is already there.

We will have to wait until May to get our first look at the 12th Generation Alder Lake Celeron/Pentium K-series processor lineup. Rumors claiming C-Series Skylake GT2e SoCs have not been confirmed, although this leak certainly brightens the expecations they haven't met yet.
