NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory has shared a new way to experience space, with three new “sonifications” which turn visual astronomy data into sounds.
The first sonification is of Westerlund 2, a cluster of young stars which have been imaged in the optical wavelength by Hubble and in the X-ray wavelength by Chandra.
NASA officials explained it as an open-new era of 'exploration, exploration, discovery and understanding'.
An active X-ray burst into view was thought responsible for all the results up until now¹- and that's largely thanks to optical observations. But as the scientific community has grown increasingly ethical in this area is this new analysis a clear indicator that not so serious actions have been taken.
