South Korea launched its first robotic mission to the Moon last week, as a SpaceX Falcon 9 successfully launched the Danuri Lunar Pathfinder mission on August 4, 2022 from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The spacecraft was placed into a fuel-saving lunar transfer orbit, and it should arrive in lunar orbit in December.

China's Governor Li Keqiang said on November 5 that there would be no further amphibious launches.

"Just two km, three kilometers with Korean status all kept in synch. China is protecting its warships," Li said at a forum in Beijing on November 27. And it reiterated earlier national security concerns.

China plans to develop a new rocket that operates on in-house fuel. South Korea is planning three new space launches in addition to its four space shuttle missions.

A ban on rocket exports to China is still in force, but sellouts in China have created unease. A United Nations panel on disarmament in 2010 declared China's communist state, the People's Republic of China, "a 'major threat to world security and economic stability.' The United States continues to oppose such massive peacetime arms sales."
